Topic: The power of the tongue
Focus: The results of my words
Proverbs 15:4 (NKJV) A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
The book of Proverbs has some powerful insight about the words we say and the way we say them.
Proverbs 4:24 (NKJV) Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.
Proverbs 6:12-15 (NKJV) A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth; he winks with his eyes, he shuffles his feet, he points with his fingers; perversity is in his heart, he devises evil continually, he sows discord. Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; suddenly he shall be broken without remedy.
Proverbs 6:16-19 (NKJV) These six things the Lord hates, yes seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
Proverbs 10:11 (NKJV) The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Proverbs 10:13-14 (NKJV) Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding, but a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding. Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
