Focus: Spiritual restoration

Psalm 34:6 (NKJV) This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

When you’re living in the middle of wanting improvement and change to take place in your life, restoration might sound like going backwards. To ‘restore’, usually means to put something back to its original condition. But in the case of Spiritual restoration—you don’t go backward—you go forward.

When a true Spiritual restoration takes place, your commitment to God is renewed. What happens in a Spiritual restoration is that your brokenness is no longer a liability—it’s an asset. Your weakness is no longer a stumbling block—it’s a stepping stone. And you haven’t come to the end of the road—you’re at a turning point.

Restoration in Christ means He has taken you back. He doesn’t see you as a loser—He sees you as a winner…because you made the decision to give yourself back to Him. It was the right thing to do. Restoration in His terms means you get another chance.

The love of the Lord is everlasting and He hasn’t given up on you. What you have been through is testimony material. If you had lived a perfect life—you wouldn’t have much to give God glory for, would you? Your failures are just more things that Jesus redeemed—more stars in your crown. More proof that His grace is enough to cover all your sins, mistakes, and failures.

You’re not lost anymore.

You may not feel like you’re worth much—and maybe you’re not at this point—but you are in the hands of the Master. He can do so much more with a person who has failed and knows it, than someone who thinks they’ve got it all figured out.

The people who seem all put together and confident have either fallen before and He restored them—or they don’t really know Him as the One who restores.

A person who has never been broken doesn’t know the Lord as their redeemer or the one who restored their soul.

There are times when you still have a hard time believing God is able to overlook your past. Try to remember your past isn’t what’s important to Him—the present is what matters more. When you’ve repented of the past—it’s GONE! It evaporates in the sight of God. The Blood of Jesus makes it invisible! So, when you keep thinking about it—you’re just slowing down your progress. You’re remembering something that God doesn’t even see.

Start seeing yourself as cleansed. After you’ve had a nice shower and you’re all clean, you don’t put your dirty clothes back on…you put on fresh garments. The dirt that was on your body WENT DOWN THE DRAIN. You can’t get the dirt back out of the drain and rub it on your body again. Just because it was on you once doesn’t mean you are stuck with that dirt the rest of your life—and every time you take a shower you have to somehow get that same dirt back on yourself and live with it.

Being cleansed by the Blood of Jesus is a perfect cleansing. It’s a complete cleansing. Isaiah chapter one says, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. When Jesus forgives your sin and cleanses you—your sin is GONE!

Start feeling as clean as God would like you to feel. Start believing you are truly redeemed and restored. Don’t be held back by memories or people or anything that would hinder your progress. You don’t take a shower and then keep remembering how dirty you were before the shower—you enjoy feeling clean because you are clean.

You are worth so much to God. Your life is precious to Him. He sees a lot of potential in you. He has saved you out of all your troubles for a purpose you may not even be able to see yet. Keep trusting Him. Keep your hand in His.

You worry about failing again, but that doesn’t have to happen. What you did in the past doesn’t have to keep happening. Don’t be afraid that this time won’t be any different than all of the other times you tried and ended up missing the mark. God wants you to let Him help you this time. Stay close to His side and you won’t miss the target.

Declaration: I will find new strength by accepting the Spiritual restoration Jesus purchased for me with His Blood. My sins are GONE! I am not a loser—I’m a winner. My brokenness is not a liability—it’s an asset. My weakness is not a stumbling block—it’s a stepping stone. I haven’t come to the end of the road—this is my turning point.
