I don’t have to wonder if You will help me, because “help” is a natural benefit given to me as a result of Your presence and because of Your nature. It would be impossible for me to be in Your presence and not be helped.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” —Isaiah 41:10
My Ever Present Help,
The greatest fear among human beings is being alone. How wonderful that You are a God who is able to be everywhere at all times. I never have to worry whether You can fit me into Your schedule. I am of constant concern to You. I never leave Your mind. I don’t have to wonder if You will help me, because “help” is a natural benefit given to me as a result of Your presence and because of Your nature. It would be impossible for me to be in Your presence and not be helped.
Strength and confidence also come naturally from being close to You. You are the essence of both of these qualities. Since I am irrefutably one with You by the blood of Jesus, what is Yours, is mine. “What I am” does not matter at all, because “What You are” totally overrides any insufficiencies I may have. You automatically make up for what “I am not”.
The only way the enemy may triumph over me is by convincing me that I am alone. If he succeeds in doing so, I become vulnerable (John 10:10).
I must arm myself against the evil one by constantly acknowledging Your presence. The best way to accomplish that is by keeping Your Word ever before me and covering myself with the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness … and, last but not least, refusing to listen to his lies.
